Stonehill Race 2024 Review: Why This Race Should Be on Bengaluru Run Bucket List
A Ninja Invasion: Taking on the Stonehill Race 2024
The Stonehill Race 2024 was nothing short of exhilarating. Our PSN Running Ninjas crew showed up in force with over 40 dedicated runners. They participated in different distances ranging from half-marathon to 5k. Eagerly, they aimed to conquer the course. In the pre-dawn hours, we gathered, buzzing with anticipation. This was more than just a race; it was a celebration of camaraderie, resilience, and our shared passion for running. This was my 15th half-marathon. I have committed to run 25 by the end of 2026.

Pre-Race Prep: Seamless Logistics and Team Spirit
The organizers provided seamless transportation—an efficient pick-up and drop-off bus service—allowing us to focus solely on the race. Arriving early, thanks to the punctual bus service, we had ample time for last-minute preparations, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. The bag drop area operated like a well-oiled machine, further streamlining our pre-race routine. This efficiency allowed us to focus on our warm-up routines. These routines were crucial for those of us still recovering from previous races. I count myself among them. The brightly lit venue ensured we could warm up safely and comfortably, adding to the welcoming ambiance. In small teams, the Running Ninjas stretched and jogged, preparing for the journey ahead, energized by our collective spirit.
The Starting Line: Punctuality Sets the Tone
Excitement crackled in the air as the starting time approached. The half marathon, my chosen event, commenced precisely on schedule, a testament to the organizers’ meticulous planning. Punctuality in race events is deeply reassuring, a sign that our dedication and preparation are respected. For runners, every minute counts, and the on-time start set a positive tone.
Conquering the Course: Camaraderie and Challenges
The course meandered through picturesque landscapes, with volunteers stationed at every turn, offering directions and cheers of encouragement. Hydration stations were strategically placed along the route. They provided both water and electrolytes. These were crucial for peak performance, especially given the early start and warm conditions.
Running the half-marathon alongside nearly 25 of my fellow Running Ninjas was a unique experience. A constant chorus of cheers and encouragement transformed the race into a shared adventure. We exchanged shouts of support as we passed each other, our camaraderie evident. A simple nod, wave, or “Go, Ninjas!” to familiar faces in PSN or other jerseys fostered a sense of belonging and motivation.
I was pleased with my finish time of 2:00:54, considering the lingering soreness from the previous weekend’s Ladakh Half Marathon. Completing the race despite the fatigue was a personal victory. The course presented its challenges. However, the energy from my fellow Ninjas pushed me forward. The cheering from fellow runners also motivated me. Finishing just over two hours felt like a rewarding culmination of a true team effort. Each of us had our own personal journey. You can read the PSN Running Ninjas Race Report by Abhishek Roy.
Fueling the Finish: A Post-Race Feast
The post-race atmosphere buzzed with celebration. Laughter, high-fives, and congratulations filled the air as we shared the joy of accomplishment. Running with a large group like the Ninjas amplifies the post-race camaraderie; it becomes a celebration of collective achievement.
The post-run breakfast was a feast for the senses. Multiple food stations offered a variety of choices. Options ranged from baked yogurt and freshly squeezed juices to South Indian classics like idli with chutney. Heartier options like omelets were also available. This inclusive spread catered to diverse tastes and dietary preferences, allowing everyone to refuel and recharge.
As a coffee lover, I was delighted to find sugar-free options available. This thoughtful touch, often overlooked at other races, demonstrated the organizers’ attention to detail. I sipped warm, unsweetened coffee with my teammates. We recounted our experiences. It was the perfect way to wind down from the morning’s adrenaline rush.

Reflecting on the Run: Highlights and Areas for Improvement
Stonehill Race 2024 Highlights
Exceptional Organization: For our large group, we provided the list of participants. A few of Ninja volunteers went to grab all the bib packets that were distributed within our community. The bus transportation was seamless. The bag drop was well-managed. The race started punctually. The organizers demonstrated impressive attention to detail.

- Supportive Atmosphere: The volunteers showed enthusiasm. The strong team spirit within the PSN Running Ninjas created a motivating and encouraging environment.
- Unforgettable Post-Race Brunch: The diverse and delicious food options at the post-race brunch were a true highlight. They catered to a variety of tastes and dietary preferences. The availability of sugar-free coffee was a thoughtful touch.
- Excellent Race Photography: High-quality race photos were provided free of charge. These photos captured the energy and excitement of the event. They provided runners with lasting memories.
Areas for Improvement
- Course Design: An area of potential improvement is the route design for the half marathon. Currently, the course involves taking loops, which can feel demoralizing and repetitive, especially for those pushing their limits. Many runners find loops challenging for pacing and motivation, as it’s easier to lose momentum or miscount laps. Additionally, the loop design increases the risk of runners accidentally skipping or miscounting. This can disrupt race times. It can also lead to some unintentionally running shorter or longer than intended. Rethinking the route to avoid loops where possible would add variety to the course. This change would keep runners engaged and energized throughout the race. Extending the route to a single loop or a more scenic and varied path is an option. Doing so would greatly enhance the experience for participants.
- T-Shirt Quality: While the race T-shirts were appreciated, upgrading the fabric quality would enhance their value. Ensuring accurate sizing would also improve their appeal as both mementos and functional athletic wear. For an event as well-organized as Stonehill Race, the T-shirts should match the quality of the experience. I would personally prefer to pay a little extra for a shirt that’s both durable and comfortable. Choosing higher-quality fabric and ensuring a wider, true-to-size range would be well worth it. This change would elevate the participant experience. It would also give Stonehill Race participants a lasting reminder of the event. They’ll actually want to wear it regularly.
Until Next Time: The Joy of Running with Friends
The PSN Running Ninjas had a fantastic time at the The Stonehill Founder’s Day Run 2024. We’re already eager for the next event, ready to experience the unparalleled joy of running with friends. The race wasn’t just a race. It reminded us of why we run. We run for the challenge, the community, and the simple joy of putting one foot in front of the other. Kudos to PB Mithra and the entire Raadiant Sports Team for pulling off a successful event.
